Is it worth it? Romwe: Clothes Review

Since my last ‘is it worth it?‘ review focusing on Choies went down quite well, I thought it’d only be fair if I tested out a couple of other companies that seem to pop up very frequently in the blogging circle. As you can probably tell from the title, today that sees Romwe in the firing line. All items were bought with my own money, so there is little incentive for me to be overly nice and cheery if I’m dissatisfied with anything.

So.

As I’m sure we’re all aware, Romwe has a very effective blogging affiliate program, which means they get heaps of exposure from the bloggers they send items to. I’d have no idea who this company even were if it weren’t for bloggers and youtubers being sent clothes to review – so I guess that means everyone’s job has been done. For those of us not receiving freebies, the website has brilliant introductory offers for new customers, and attractive item prices. I bought these with the ‘60% off for new customers’ deal running at the time (no secret that I love a discount).

Getting my order to me, however, was a bit of an ordeal. The amount I spent qualified my items for free express shipping, which, according to the website, would arrive within two weeks at the upper parameters – maximum 7 days for processing, 7 days for shipping. Granted, I took these dates with a pinch of salt as Romwe is another China based company… but from past experience everything I’ve ordered from China has arrived within 15 days.

Oh Romwe.

My order remained in the ‘processing’ stage for 16 days – with no email from the company as to why this was so, and all the items I’d ordered were still in stock so I was a little confused. During this 16 days, I’d used the little button to alert for ‘urgent shipping’, and then sent two queries to the staff to ask about my parcel. My first query received no response, but the second I sent through the ‘live chat’ box and thankfully they were very helpful, if a little delayed in replying, and my parcel status changed to ‘shipped’ a day after they replied. It arrived on the 26th of January – about 10 days after I’d expected it to. This isn’t by any accounts a terrible experience, just mildly frustrating, really.

Enough about shipping times, onto the clothes! I ordered 6 items: two coats, a scarf, a jumper/sweater, a skirt, and a ring. Each item came individually packaged within the main parcel, which is nice.

top:  Peach Print Flare Skirt // Letters Floral Print Ombre Sweatshirt
middle: Check Print Tassel Scarf
bottom: Zipper Embellished Fleece Military Coat // wave shape ring // Lapel Pockets woolen coat

First up is the fleece lined military coat in purple – although I’d actually say that in the flesh it’s a very pretty lilac. The fleece inside is soft, and feels like it’s a polyester material. The outer is a more heavy duty parka material, and I was actually surprised at the weightiness of the item. All the stitching is finished to a high standard and the applique patches show no signs of coming off any time soon. The fit on me is ‘oversized’ as I’m not the most substantial person around, but the drawstrings around the waist and the hem allow me to pull it to suit.

The Lapel Pockets Woolen Coat was probably the item I was most excited for, and also the item I was most disappointed with. Mostly because the colour is an odd ‘dull mint green’, and the material is  ‘woolen polyester’, but an inexpensive blend. I apologise for the creasing in the photos, but they were pretty set in, and I’m hoping a bit of time hanging will help them fall out.

The coat is fully lined, and the pockets are deep (yay!) and also lined. It isn’t actually button fastening, but small poppers sit behind the buttons for ease of fastening, I guess. Like the lilac coat, the fit is oversized on me, and the length comes to mid-thigh. Also the left front hem sits a little higher than it should for symmetry’s sake. I think for this particular style of coat I should’ve seen what was available a little closer to home.

Next is the Letters floral print Ombre Sweatshirt, which despite being described as ‘cotton blend’ is anything but. We’re on scuba fabric street here, which is hinted in the photos, really, as the hems all have that telltale ‘bubble’ quality. The colouring of this sweater is definitely pretty, the ombre goes from a delicate blush pink (despite what my camera flash want’s you to think) to somewhere around indigo at the collar. I’ve got to admit I added it to my basket purely for the slogan – bye bye haters, haters gonna hate – because why would you not?

My only qualms with this sweater, other than the scuba, is the exposed stitching along the tops of the shoulders and the collars topstitching. The rest of the seams are finished well, and I’m glad I decided to size up to medium, I think small would’ve been a tad too snug for my liking.

I am very aware this looks like the ombre is from navy to white – trick of the natural light!

The Check Print Scarf is my favourite item out of this whole haul, and kind of the only reason I actually decided to spend any money at Romwe at all. It’s a gorgeous brushed cotton, and the quality is much, much higher than I was expecting (I’ve seen similar scarves on street stalls in Korea of horrific quality). It’s such a brilliant Burberry dupe – I’m going to get so much wear out of it.

I absolutely adore this peach print flare skirt, it’s made of a polyester/spandex blend that gives it a silken feel and a jersey like stretch. I was scared that the length would be a bit dangerous, but it sits very nicely and falls to just below mid-thigh. I was also worried that the material would be horribly see through, and was relieved to find that it wasn’t – even held up to the light. Being freesize it’s a little big around the waist for me, so it tends to sit just at the top of my hips.

Finally, the wave shape ring in silver. There isn’t really much to say about this other than it’s just a smidgen too big for most of my fingers (I have tiny hands), and it’s non-adjustable. I do like the design a lot, it reminds me of a heart trace – I’m really liking the minimalistic rings at the moment.

All in all, do I think Romwe is worth it?

I’m of mixed opinions. Once my order arrived I was pretty happy with most of the items, minimal disappointments in an order is certainly a good thing – but the fact that it took so long for my order to get to me, and without much correspondence from the company in response to my enquiries tips it into the ‘meh’ wasteland of companies. I’ve seen other people have horrific ordeals with the company, though I do think those cases are incredibly rare, so it’s probably a bit of pot luck whether you receive your order within the specified limits if you’re not part of their blogging program. That’s just me theorising though.

Quality wise, I was far more impressed with Choies than with Romwe, but it could just be the items I chose (although some of them are pretty pricey once you remove discounts and/or sale prices). I’m sitting on the fence on this one. I don’t think they’re a disreputable company at all, and I do genuinely love some of the items I’ve chosen, I just do’t really see myself buying from Romwe in the immediate future.

What do you think? Have you bought from Romwe before? Any horror stories, pleasant surprises, or just your opinions on these items? I’d love to hear!

I've been humming and haying about buying from Romwe for quite a while now and this has kinda made me think about not buying unless I'm in *love* with an item. And that skirt is too die for, I might travel just to steal it from you ;)xo

I think unless you're on their blogger program/receiving freebies then it feels like you're sort of put on the 'backorder' of customers. It's a hella popular website, making the rounds on tumblr like gawdknows what – so it *could* just be that they're constantly rushed off their feet. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I also want to be totally honest. If you absolutely *adore* an item then totally go for it – the discounts they offer are worth it. It's so cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, considering it was the cheapest of the apparel items I'm super impressed!xo

Don't you hate it when deliveries are late?! It makes you worry that they've gotten lost somewhere in the North Pole and penguins might have received your package instead. Well maybe that's just me. But, at least the clothes you've got are super cute~ xxxShe Will Be

I've never ordered from Romwe before, I always toy with the idea though! I think I'll definitely have to place an order just to see for myself what it's like, hopefully I'll have a good experience! I love the purple coat, so cute, might have to add it to my basket sometime soon. Great post, really helpful (:Sophie x | sophhskii.co.uk

I was wondering how the sizing works for the site. Say for example my waist is 54 cm, would I order a skirt or pants that is 54cm or a few cm bigger and if so how much bigger?

They usually run with Asian sizes, so a small would be a western XS, medium would be western small etc. I'd say you'd probably be a small unless you have wide hips, in which case I'd suggest sizing up :)xo

Just wanted to say to those who are umming and ahhhing. Please do a bit more research about Romwe. I've been waiting a month and my order never arrived, their customer service keeps saying they can't control couriers so it's probably delayed. However the tracking number does not work and the status of my order is now set to 'being returned'. A lot of people have been scammed so be careful!!

Honestly, NEVER ORDER FROM ROMWE!!Upon reading mixed reviews i was on the fence about ordering but i decided to anyway, boy was that a terrible decision. If you're wise, unlike me, you'll listen to the negative reviews.I ordered a super sexy backless dress and received a pair of pant legs which were sewn shut (yep, no hole for a head/body/anything) with 2 spaghetti straps sewn on the sides… Upon bringing this up with them, they said it was "the design"… so basically the design was a pair of pants to be worn as a cape, as it certainly can't be worn as a dress or even a pair of pants. On top of that, they expect me to pay for return shipping for a "garment" that honestly can't even be considered clothing. They didn't even offer a full refund until i insisted, but instead, a 60% off coupon for next time i shop, which isn't necessary anyway as i am NEVER shopping there again.

I bought a tweed fabric coat. It arrived with an ugly gold thread that is unwearable. I am not being given any help with a refund and will have to start a Paypal dispute. Aftersale service is shocking. It is the same company as Shein.

I have to say the one time I ordered from Romwe it was a pretty positive experience – I got the most amazing quality skirt (similar to your cherry blossom one) which was digitally printed on really high quality fabric. More than anything, the design was really unique and I wouldn't have been able to find it anywhere else. However, I also ordered a top which was made of a really itchy material…the clothes did take a while to arrive but I was expecting that as it was coming from China! Overall I think it's just really hit and miss.Really loved this review though and appreciated your honesty!Sinéad xo ♥ fabuleuse, toujours ♥

The romwe website lured me into making an order with a 60% off all first orders discount. When I tried to use the code, it would not work and only gave me a 55% discount. After I contacted them multiple times, they refused to refund me the 5% difference even though it was an issue with their own coupon system. When I received my package (3 weeks later), some of the clothes weren't even in the right colour and does not at all reflect the design. Terrible customer services, terrible products. I will never be using them again. Don't make the same mistake.

ROMWE goes by standard asian sizing tbh, which runs smaller than US. They do have a sizing section of their website so it's best to check your measurements by them yourself, but a US size 6-8 would probably be an Asian L/XL:)

I've actually ordered from Romwe before and had a horrible experience. The sweater I got had the design painted on instead of being stitched into the fabric so there was literally no stretch to it at all. And the other items I ordered didn't work for me either except for the scarf you have which I also bought!

So I ordered roughly 24 things off of ROMWE and I am 100% in love with them, and the two packages shipped out within 4 days and arrived within the next week. I've been wondering how you're supposed to wash these clothes because the tag says do not soak, wash dark colors seperately, but I don't really know what to classify some of the items as. Like I don't know whether they'd be considered dark or light and I don't know what setting to put the soak level on in my washer because I'm afraid that if I put it too high then the color will come out. Is there a certain wash cycle I'm supposed to put it on?Any suggestions?

#협찬 Using the right sunscreen for your skin ty #협찬 Using the right sunscreen for your skin type is *drum roll* actually very important -- and I'm not just talking about SPF levels for different skin tones.

Choosing the right sunscreen helps to avoid irritation, breakouts, and makes you more likely to apply it regularly, which gives your skin the best chance at avoiding things like melanoma (skin cancer) and premature aging.

Determining your skin type >>
For me, finding my skin type was super easy. S E N S I T I V E. I'm horrifically eczema prone (have a whole series on my blog about this), and lean towards a routine that is simple but hydrating, staying away from too many actives. It's the reason I take forever to put up skincare reviews, because I have to check for reactions, or develop contact dermatitis from different ingredients.

BUT - that's not all. See, I lean towards Sensitive-dry, which is why my skin care, and my sun care, focuses more on hydrating products.

What determines your skin type? How much oil (sebum) your skin produces daily.

Dry >>
Does your skin feel tight? Less elastic? Does it become rough or flaky easily? Dehydrated? Not a lot of shine in your T-zone? Then your skin type is probably dry.

Oily >>
Do you get really shiny during the day? (Especially in your t-zone) Do you suffer from (manageable*) breakouts, blackheads and/or whiteheads? Then your skin type is probably oily.

Normal >>
Is your skin neither oily throughout the day, and doesn't feel dry, or tight, or often irritated? Your pores aren't too noticeable, and you rarely have breakouts? Then your skin is probably normal! Lucky you :)

Combination >>
Are you oily in your t-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dry or normal skin on your cheeks? Then you have combination skin <3. It's a little harder to care for, because you're often trying to battle with contrasting products
(my tip: you're gonna want a sunscreen that's suitable for 'all skin types' ;))

So, now you know more about skin types, scroll through for my picks for each, and my current favourite sun screen <3

Let me know your skin type AND your current sun screen in the comments below, and don't forget to #applysunscreenaddprotection <3

hands up if you like cafes! 🙌🏻 hands up if y hands up if you like cafes! 🙌🏻 hands up if you like cafes with cute mascots 🙌🏻🤭🤭🤭

then i have a cafe recommendation for you~~

this cute (deceptively large) place is @for_tourists_dotori_garden by Anguk station, and i had a great afternoon enjoying the atmosphere with great company and great baked goods and i’m not at all noting the aesthetics for my own future cafe 🤭

꿀팁 - if you search 분좋카 on instagram then you’ll find a bunch of very aesthetic cafes around seoul that all have a great atmosphere (분•위기 좋•은 카•페 = 분좋카) ❤️❤️

Vegan skincare is on the rise, and I received these beautiful Vegan Lip Butters from @melixirskincare_kr ❤️
Melixir is vegan, sustainable, and cruelty free, that has a range of products that are great for sensitive skin like mine :)

I’m absolutely loving the easy wearability of “04 Dewy Rose”, and the agave infused formula is great for my lips (guess who doesn’t drink enough water…).

“05 Red Velvet” is a buildable red, that isn’t too harsh or bright for those days you want a little colour, but don’t want to faff about with lip liners ❤️

📌 you can find melixir products at Amazon (worldwide), or if you’re in Korea, Olive Young and Melixir’s website ❤️

What’s your favourite lip product these days?

#협찬 #광고 skincare for glowing skin when yo #협찬 #광고 skincare for glowing skin when you don’t have time for extensive routines? i’m loving the @klairs.global fundamental line :)

named because it’s formulated to take care of your skin’s fundamental needs, this is a great line to reach for when you’re busy, or just need something simple to satisfy your skin.

cream:
the fundamental water gel cream is super light weight for easy absorption into the skin. it’s packed with green tea for vitamin e, antioxidants and calming, which with the way my eczema has been recently i def need.

mist:
the fundamental ampule mist os a great product to have to top up when your skin is feeling dry, or as layered with 7 skins. it’s got so many nutrients to make your skin feel refreshed and hydrated.

eye cream
i’m always a bit hmm over eye creams that don’t have actives (like retinol or derivatives) but i’ve been reading about the benefits of using peptides for the under-eye area specifically and i’m not saying the results are magic, but i’ve seen an improvement when i’ve been using peptide formulated products in that area. so. jury is still out but i’m not mad.
#the formula of this cream is also super thick and creamy so it feels really nourishing 😇🫶

overall it’s been a great experience so far, and it’s definitely made me remember why i liked klairs products way back when i started blogging ❤️
